Producer’s Note:
A new loose-leaf shu puerh. A tea-discovery. After the first cup, I wondered what on earth that was. Its power simply stunned me. I drink puerh constantly, but I haven't had anything like this in a long time. Extremely dense, viscous, and rich. For the first time, I regretted putting in too much leaf. Woodiness, fruitiness, bitterness. Volume, depth, aftertaste, and a slight numbing sensation. And power.
I was reminded of Confucius's words from 'Idle Conversations in the Orchid Pavilion': “And what should those do who drank two cups?”. An amazing tea. The name BA 霸 was born instantly. This character means despot or hegemon, but in modern Chinese, it signifies the ultimate expression of might. From the first cup, it captures and rules. Yet, following the paradigm of dual forces, it is also soft and nurturing, enveloping you in warmth and bringing peace, just like a granny. Ba.
