Gyokuro Kusanagi is a rare Japanese green tea of the Gyokuro category, crafted in Japan from young  tea leaves. The name "Gyokuro" translates as "Jade Dew", reflecting the tea's refined character and exceptional quality. It is regarded as one of Japan's most prestigious green teas thanks to its unique cultivation method. Several weeks before harvest, the tea bushes are carefully shaded with special covers that block up to 95% of sunlight. This process encourages the leaves to accumulate higher levels of L-theanine and other amino acids, develop their rich emerald-green color, and produce a deep, naturally sweet flavor with pronounced umami and virtually no bitterness. The leaves are hand-picked, using only the tender young shoots. Immediately after harvest, they are steamed for 15–20 seconds to preserve their freshness and vibrant color, then carefully rolled into fine needle-shaped leaves and gently dried, retaining the tea's pure character.

Appearance: Fine, needle-shaped dark green leaves resembling evergreen needles. The infusion is clear, with a deep jade-green hue.

Aroma: Delicate and layered, with notes of fresh greens, young seaweed, sweet peas, and a subtle natural sweetness.

Taste: Rich, smooth, and full-bodied. Pronounced umami is beautifully balanced by natural sweetness, delicate fruity nuances, and gentle marine notes. The finish is long, clean, and silky, with almost no bitterness.

Characteristics & Benefits: Naturally high in L-theanine, Gyokuro promotes calm focus, helps relieve tension, and provides a gentle, long-lasting sense of alertness without the sharp stimulation often associated with other caffeinated beverages. Its exceptionally high amino acid content gives the tea its signature depth, sweetness, and refined umami, making Gyokuro one of Japan's most celebrated green teas.
