Lao Bai 2.0 — A New Level of Aged White Tea
We asked the producer to share the story behind "Lao Bai 2.0." Here is the account in his own words:
“The story of Lao Bai 2.0 began in 2018 in Xiao Keng village, near Zhenghe—the legendary home of white tea. The local farmer we bought it from swore by everything he held dear: let this tea sit for five or six years, and it will turn into ‘fire.’ We took his word for it and tucked two boxes away in our stash.
When our previous stock finally ran out, we remembered those boxes. This time, we pressed the cakes ourselves, allowing us to personally control the quality of every single leaf. The result is truly a new level of quality.
The tea is harvested from the Zhenghe Da Bai bush, as tradition dictates. Because it is handmade using traditional methods, a subtle yet distinct ‘red tea’ note emerges alongside the classic white tea profile. With age, this note becomes even more powerful and pronounced—a feature highly prized by connoisseurs. The large leaves allow for long-term aging, and the taste is both powerful and delicately sweet, offering a voluminous and refined state.”
